The death toll in the attack on a busy Christmas market in the German city of Magdeburg has risen to five, the state governor said Saturday.

Saxony-Anhalt Gov. Reiner Haseloff also said that more than 200 people were injured. Many of them have serious injuries. The incident happened when a Saudi doctor intentionally drove a black BMW into the market on Friday evening, as quoted by AP.

AP has quoted the German Chancellor Olaf Scholz as saying, "Nearly 40 people are so seriously injured that we must be very worried about them."

In a major setback ahead of the Delhi Assembly Elections 2025, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Saturday received Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena's sanction for the prosecution of former chief minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) supremo Arvind Kejriwal in Delhi liquor policy case, reports said.

The central agency, as per reports, sought sanction for Kejriwal's prosecution under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), 2002, on December 5 citing a "huge level of corruption in framing and implementation" of the excise policy.
