While addressing a 'Hala Modi' event in Kuwait, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said he was happy to see the diversity of people from India in the Middle East nation and called it a "mini-Hindustan".

PM Modi on Saturday arrived in Kuwait City for his two-day visit to the Gulf nation on the invitation of Kuwaiti Emir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabahsaid.

Earlier, in his departure message, the prime minister reiterated that his talks with top Kuwaiti leadership would be an opportunity to chalk out a roadmap for a futuristic partnership between India and Kuwait.

"We deeply value the historical connection with Kuwait that has been nurtured over generations. We are not just strong trade and energy partners but also have shared interest in peace, security, stability and prosperity in the West Asia region," he said.

'Mini Hindustan': The 'Hala Modi' event

Addressing the vibrant Indian diaspora at the Shaikh Saad Al Abdullah Indoor Sports Complex in Kuwait City, PM Modi said,"Just 2–2.5 hours ago, I arrived in Kuwait, and ever since setting foot here, I have felt an extraordinary sense of belonging and warmth all around. You all have come from various states of India, but seeing you here feels like a 'Mini Hindustan' has gathered before me."

"Our elders in Gujarat still recall how Kuwaiti traders learnt Gujarati, wrote books in it and traded their world-famous pearls in our markets. We took supplied horses and many other items. There has been a long-lasting relationship between India and Kuwait," he said.

Further in his speech, PM Modi also highlighted that India owns the skill, technology, innovation and manpower that 'New' Kuwait needs.

"Kuwait, through trade and innovation, wants to be a dynamic economy. India is also focusing on innovation and strengthening its economy. India has the skill, technology, innovation and manpower that 'New' Kuwait needs," the Prime Minister noted.

Now, the top four teams have entered the semifinals and the last two teams will have to fight for the fifth spot on the table. India have won all of their five matches. Pakistan are second with two wins and two draws.

Hailing the Indian community, the prime minister said the diaspora has filled Kuwait’s canvas with the colours of Indian skills.

PM Modi also met two Kuwaiti nationals who translated and published India’s two iconic epics, Mahabharata and Ramayana in Arabic. The Prime Minister was also seen signing copies of the Arabic versions of the two epics.

Following a social media appeal, PM Modi met 101-year-old former Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer Mangal Sain Handa.The interaction was made possible by Handa's granddaughter Shreya Juneja who requested PM Modi to meet him on social media.

"Humble request to Hon'ble PM @narendramodi to meet my 101-year-old Nanajihot646, ex-IFS officer, in Kuwait during tomorrow's interaction with the Indian Diaspora. Nana @MangalSainHanda is a great admirer of yours. Details have been emailed to your office," Shreya posted on X.
